Gemma Perfect writes fantasy shaped by royal succession, magical inheritance, and young protagonists learning what power demands. Based in Wales, she began writing early, tried children’s self-publishing, and published a romance novella with HarperCollins before settling into teen fantasy. Her Kingmaker sequence follows Everleigh, a girl marked by an ancient force that determines who may rule. Seize the Crown occupies the second position in that four-book sequence, between The Kingmaker and Born to Rule, and continues the struggle over Everleigh’s claim and the obligations attached to it. Perfect later completed The First Queen and developed other connected fantasy projects, including the Chronicles of the Accidental Witch and Fairy Queen books.
