Geoffrey Knight
Geoffrey Knight writes gay romance, adventure, suspense, and comedy, often placing relationships within vivid travel and action settings. The Pearl opens his Pearl Trilogy and follows Jarrah “Jad” Yindi and Luke Lawson from childhood friendship in Australia’s Northern Territory toward a lasting romantic bond shaped by separation, danger, and questions of belonging. The story first appeared during 2010 and later returned in editions from Empire Press and Wilde City Press, while a collected version brought the trilogy’s three parts together. Knight’s own account describes the sequence as a coming-of-age romance rooted in the Top End landscape. Across more than thirty novels, novellas, and shorter works, he has explored several strands of gay genre fiction. In The Pearl, the beaches, waters, and remote communities around Darwin are not simply scenery. They frame Jad’s developing sense of family, culture, vocation, and love, giving the novel both the sweep of an Australian journey and the intimacy of a character-led romance.
