Georgie Blalock

Georgie Blalock approaches public women in historical fiction through perspectives of people close to them. The Other Windsor Girl follows Vera Strathmore, an aspiring novelist who enters Princess Margaret's postwar social circle and becomes her attendant and confidante. William Morrow issued the novel during November 2019 as The Other Windsor Girl: A Novel of Princess Margaret, Royal Rebel. By placing the fictional Vera between palace duty and her writing ambitions, Blalock creates an observing voice that registers both Margaret's glamour and the restrictions surrounding a younger royal sister. The story moves through postwar Britain, including Margaret's relationship with Peter Townsend and changing expectations of the period. Blalock also publishes historical romance as Georgie Lee, a background that informs her attention to courtship, reputation, and constrained choices. This novel is best understood as biographical historical fiction rather than a documentary account, with Vera providing an invented route into events associated with Princess Margaret's early public life.
