Gillian Harvey

Gillian Harvey sets much of her British contemporary fiction in France, using travel to explore friendship, reinvention, and changes in family life. She lives in Norfolk and previously spent fourteen years in France, experience that informs the places and social details across her novels. One French Summer, published by Boldwood Books in 2023, follows Katy and three close friends on a retreat in the French countryside after her marriage reaches a crisis. The journey allows the group to reassess old loyalties and future choices, placing friendship beside the book's second-chance romance. Harvey's bibliography also includes A Year at the French Farmhouse, The Bordeaux Book Club, The French Chateau Escape, and The Little Provence Book Shop. Boldwood's author catalogue establishes the recurring French connection and her publishing relationship with the press. Her journalism and fiction share an interest in ordinary pressures faced by women, but the novels create room for humour, travel, and communal support as characters reshape their lives.
