Author: Grace Dunlop Peter

Grace Glasgow Dunlop (1878–1974) was born in Georgetown, where her parents, grandparents and great-grandparents had lived, and she spent much of her life recording what the town had been. She wrote under the name from her first marriage, Grace Dunlop Ecker; Garrett and Massie published the book that way in 1933, and the Dietz Press brought out a revised and enlarged second edition in 1951, by which time her second marriage had made her Grace Dunlop Peter, the name Project Gutenberg files her under. She worked from deeds and title records, family papers and local memory, with help from the Peabody Room of the Georgetown branch library, the Library of Congress, the National Archives and Mount Vernon. She is remembered almost entirely for this one book.
