📚 1 Book ✍️ American Classics 📄 PDF & EPUB

Henry Cuyler Bunner (1855-1896) was born in Oswego, New York, and joined the staff of the new comic weekly Puck in 1877 as assistant editor, soon taking over as editor and keeping the chair until he died. He is best remembered for "Short Sixes: Stories to Be Read While the Candle Burns" (1891) and for the novels "The Midge" (1886) and "The Story of a New York House" (1887), with several books of verse alongside the fiction. French storytelling shaped his method, and in "Made in France" (1893) he retold Maupassant tales in American settings. Tuberculosis killed him in May 1896 at his home in Nutley, New Jersey, at forty.
