Han Song
Han Song is a Chinese science fiction writer and longtime journalist whose Hospital trilogy turns an immense medical institution into a setting for questions about technological and governmental systems. Hospital appeared in Chinese in 2016, followed by Exorcism in 2017 and Dead Souls in 2018. The first novel begins when an ill man enters a hospital where tests and procedures multiply without clear answers. Michael Berry translated Hospital for its English publication by Amazon Crossing in 2023. Han worked in Beijing media and served as deputy director of the Science Fiction Committee within the Chinese Writers Association. Hong Kong Baptist University selected him as its 2024 Distinguished Chinese Writer, and his other works include 2066: Red Star Over America, Red Ocean, and Subway. Across the Hospital trilogy, ordinary experience meets systems too large to comprehend.
