Helena Duggan
Duggan trained as a graphic designer in Ireland and wrote A Place Called Perfect, in which a girl moves to a town where everyone is relentlessly cheerful, everyone wears glasses supplied by the local opticians, and it takes a while to work out why. The Trouble with Perfect continues it, and a third book closes the sequence. She has said the town came from a recurring childhood nightmare, and she illustrates the books with her own drawings. Perfect was published in 2017 and has been translated into a dozen languages.
