Pollack is a University of Michigan professor emeritus of geophysics and contributed to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change assessment recognized when the organization shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. His earlier book Uncertain Science...Uncertain World examined how scientific uncertainty is understood. Both works reflect his emphasis on explaining complex evidence clearly to non-specialist readers.
