Henry Winterfeld
Henry Winterfeld wrote Star Girl as a playful science-fiction adventure for younger readers. The story follows an alien girl who falls from her father’s spacecraft and meets children determined to help her return home despite grown-up disbelief. Library records trace the English translation to Harcourt Brace in 1957 and a later Lutterworth Press edition in 1963. Dover’s modern edition credits Kyrill Schabert as translator and Fritz Wegner as illustrator, preserving the book’s combination of space travel, comedy, and illustrated juvenile fiction for a new generation.
