Homer Eon Flint helped shape early American speculative fiction through stories published during the pulp era. The Blind Spot was created with Austin Hall and first reached readers as a serial in Argosy All-Story Weekly in 1921. Prime Press later issued the first book edition in 1951 with jacket art by Hannes Bok. The novel begins with the disappearance of a scientist and develops around a mysterious threshold connecting ordinary San Francisco with another realm. Its shifting viewpoints, invented scientific language, and interest in parallel worlds place it among formative American science-fantasy adventures. The shared Hall-Flint authorship is essential because the work is sometimes listed under either writer alone. Flint also wrote independent speculative stories before his early death in 1924. The Blind Spot remains his best-known collaboration, combining a puzzle structure with cosmic speculation and showing how magazine serial fiction could later be reshaped into a durable book edition.
