J. F. Gonzalez
J. F. Gonzalez was the professional name of American horror writer Jesus F. Gonzalez. Shapeshifter is his werewolf novel about Mark Wiseman, a man who tries to control a dangerous transformation until an influential employer discovers his secret and coerces him. The book first appeared in 2003 and later reached readers through a Dorchester Publishing edition. Gonzalez wrote across horror and dark suspense, producing novels such as Primitive, The Beloved, Fetish, and Back from the Dead. He also collaborated frequently. Clickers, written with Mark Williams, began a creature-horror sequence that later included volumes coauthored with Brian Keene, while Hero paired Gonzalez with Wrath James White. Deadite Press identifies him as the author of numerous horror and dark-suspense titles. Shapeshifter belongs to the supernatural side of that body of work, using a familiar monster figure to explore secrecy, coercion, and the struggle to retain personal control.
