J. M. Stengl
J. M. Stengl writes romantic fantasy shaped by fairy tales, gentle humor, and hopeful transformations. The Baker and the Wolf reworks the traditional story about a red-cloaked girl through Cerise DuBois, a gifted baker who believes she lacks magic, and a mysterious golden-eyed stranger connected to the grandmother she has never met. The novella belongs to A Villain's Ever After, a multi-author collection of stand-alone stories that recast familiar antagonists and give them unexpected romantic paths. Stengl's own Faraway Castle novels likewise combine magical creatures, royal settings, and courtship, with titles including Ellie and the Prince, The Siren and the Scholar, and The Rose and the Briar. Before adopting the J. M. Stengl name for fantasy, she published romance as Jill Stengl and received honors including a Carol Award. Her later work keeps romance central while giving wonder, enchantment, and moral choice equal weight.
