James A. Moore

James A. Moore built a career in novels and short stories that ranged across horror, dark fantasy, science fiction, and media tie-ins. City of Wonders is the third volume in his Seven Forges sequence, following Seven Forges and The Blasted Lands as the conflict between the empire of Fellein and the Sa'ba Taalor expands. Moore also created the Serenity Falls trilogy and the recurring supernatural investigator Jonathan Crowley, and he wrote novels connected to Alien, Predator, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. His fiction often placed large supernatural threats beside characters whose loyalties and histories complicated the action. Moore discussed City of Wonders as a turning point in a wider epic rather than a self-contained adventure, with war altering both cultures at its centre. Across original series and licensed worlds, he brought the pacing of modern horror to stories shaped by military pressure, strange landscapes, and the costs of survival.
