Author: Jean Ray
Ray was Belgian, wrote in both French and Flemish under a shelf of names, and produced Malpertuis, in which the last of the Greek gods are trapped inside the bodies of the people living in an old house in a Flemish town. He turned out hundreds of stories and a long run of Harry Dickson detective pulps, and claimed a past as a smuggler and bootlegger that was largely invention, though he did serve two years for embezzlement. People reaching for a European Lovecraft usually reach for him, which does neither of them much good.
