H. P. Mallory
H. P. Mallory published Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble herself in 2010, introducing Jolie Wilkins, a psychic who discovers she can bring the dead back and who falls in with a warlock named Rand Balfour. The series did well enough that Bantam, at Random House, took on its closing volumes, Something Witchy This Way Comes among them, which finds Jolie holding the Underworld against a half-human breed called the Lurkers. Her other long-running strand, the Dulcie O'Neil urban fantasy, is narrated by a fairy who polices supernatural creatures on behalf of the Netherworld; its instalments include A Tale of Two Goblins and Wuthering Frights, where Dulcie discovers her father heads the Netherworld and finds herself working under him. Bite of the Gargoyle, a 2023 standalone fantasy romance written with J. R. Rain, follows a hired monster hunter, Jo, whose assignment brings her up against her own past.
