Magnolia Parks appeared as a self-published novel in 2021, found its audience on TikTok, and carried Jessa Hastings from independent release to deals with Orion in Britain and Bloom Books in America. Daisy Haites: The Great Undoing, published the following year, continues the second strand of what she calls the Magnolia Parks Universe, following Daisy Haites, heiress to a London crime family, raised by her older brother Julian after their parents were killed. The books sit among wealthy young Londoners and run on an on-and-off romance the series refuses to resolve quickly, told in short chapters thick with dialogue and messages, which is much of why they travel so well in screenshots. Hastings was born in Australia and lives in Southern California with her husband and two children. Her books have been translated into seventeen languages.
