JODY A. KESSLER

JODY A. KESSLER writes paranormal and contemporary romance, often linking a central relationship to a larger supernatural conflict. Death Lies Between Us introduces the An Angel Falls series through Nathaniel Evans, a young man able to perceive spirits, and Juliana Crowson, whose arrival changes the dangers surrounding that ability. Kessler’s official bibliography identifies the novel as the series opener and notes its RomCon Readers’ Crown recognition for paranormal romance. A separate series listing positions Angel Dreams afterward and traces the sequence through recurring celestial mythology. The title’s tension between mortality and attachment reflects Nathaniel’s unusual position: encounters invisible to others complicate ordinary trust and draw him toward questions he cannot resolve alone. Kessler uses the developing bond with Juliana to make the speculative stakes personal rather than treating supernatural rules as detached world-building. Readers beginning with Death Lies Between Us receive the foundation for the later An Angel Falls books, including the abilities, relationships, and unresolved forces that continue beyond the first volume.
