Received a tip about a blood-testing company that had reached a nine billion dollar valuation without publishing anything, and spent the next year being followed by private investigators and threatened by Theranos lawyers.

Bad Blood reconstructs it: the machines that did not work, the results sent to real patients from third-party analysers, the death of the chief scientist, and a board of former secretaries of state and generals with no scientific member.

Carreyrou reported it for the Wall Street Journal while the company was still being celebrated. Elizabeth Holmes and Sunny Balwani were later convicted of fraud. He has since covered the trials in a podcast.
