Tom Wright

Wright was a Wall Street Journal reporter in Asia when the 1MDB story broke, and Billion Dollar Whale, written with Bradley Hope, traces how Jho Low moved billions out of a Malaysian sovereign wealth fund and spent it on parties, art and a Hollywood film about greed. The book drew legal threats and was banned in Malaysia. Najib Razak, prime minister at the time, was later convicted. Wright now runs an investigative outfit and has kept reporting the case.
