Julian May

Julian May moved between far-future sagas, fantasy worlds, editing, nonfiction, and commercial writing throughout a long American career. Blood Trillium continues the world she created with Marion Zimmer Bradley and Andre Norton in Black Trillium. Issued during the early 1990s, May’s solo sequel returns to the three royal sisters and the magical talismans linked to their realm, widening the political and ecological consequences of the original collaboration. Her best-known independent sequences include the Saga of Pliocene Exile and the Galactic Milieu, which connect psychic powers, alien contact, and far-future history across multiple novels. May also worked with editor T. E. Dikty and wrote numerous books under house names and pseudonyms before returning prominently to fiction. Blood Trillium occupies an unusual place in her bibliography: it is both an individual novel and one branch of a shared-world project shaped by three established genre writers.
