Bradley P. Beaulieu

Sharakhai, a desert city held by twelve immortal kings and hemmed in by the tribes they displaced, is Bradley P. Beaulieu's largest piece of invention. Twelve Kings in Sharakhai opened the sequence in 2015 with Çeda, a young pit fighter working her way toward the kings who killed her mother. With Blood Upon the Sand followed in 2017 and When Jackals Storm the Walls in 2020, fifth of the six volumes, with DAW Books publishing in America and Gollancz in Britain. Beaulieu took a degree in computer science and engineering and spent years in information technology before writing became the main job. His earlier series, The Lays of Anuskaya, began with The Winds of Khalakovo, nominated for the Gemmell Morningstar Award, and closed in 2013 with The Flames of Shadam Khoreh. He learned the craft at workshops under Nancy Kress, Joe Haldeman, Tim Powers and Kij Johnson among others.
