Julián Palacios

Julián Palacios approaches early Pink Floyd history through the life and art of founding member Syd Barrett. His 1998 biography Lost in the Woods was substantially revised as Syd Barrett & Pink Floyd: Dark Globe, published by Plexus in 2010. The expanded book runs to 443 pages and draws on first-hand interviews with Barrett's relatives, friends and fellow band members. Palacios follows the musician from his Cambridge youth and art-school years into London's 1960s counterculture, placing visual art and the avant-garde beside the better-known musical story. A review in Radical Philosophy highlighted that attention to Barrett's artistic influences and described Palacios's treatment as a careful revision of familiar myths.
