Kamilla Reid

Kamilla Reid has written and directed for stage and screen, experience that gives her fiction a close understanding of performance and creative communities. A Fallen Muse follows former theatre star Kit Lasslin, who withdrew from a promising career and now runs a modest dinner theatre while raising her teenage daughter, Sunni. Sixteen years after Kit vanished from the spotlight, a former castmate and the discovery of an old script bring long-buried events back into view. The 2023 novel combines mystery with questions about artistic power, memory, loyalty, and enforced quiet. Reid previously worked as a performer, resident writer, and theatre director, collaborating with designers and composers as productions moved from page to stage. Those professional roots shape the theatre as a working environment rather than decorative scenery. Ambition and authority affect actors, technicians, families, and the ensemble surrounding them. Readers drawn to character-led mysteries will find past choices returning through rehearsal rooms, relationships, and a script capable of changing how Kit understands her own history and reshaping the company’s future.
