Karen M. Wyatt
Twenty-five years of family medicine, much of it as a hospice medical director visiting dying patients at home, sits behind everything Karen M. Wyatt writes. The Journey from Ego to Soul: How to Transform Your Life When Everything Falls Apart makes the case that a spiritual life is entered through collapse rather than around it, and she puts her own losses in evidence, chiefly her father's death, which by her account left her in pieces for years. An earlier book, 7 Lessons for Living from the Dying, gathers what patients told her at the end. Readers should know the commercial shape of the work as well as the credential. Wyatt qualified as a medical doctor and has since retired from practice to run End-of-Life University, which sells online courses beside a free interview podcast on dying, grief and caregiving. The training is medical; the framework in this book is spiritual.
