Katie Hayoz

Katie Hayoz grew up in Racine, Wisconsin, and has lived in Geneva for more than half her life, having moved there when she married. She writes for children as Katie Lee Koz and for older readers under her own name, and for the Swiss publisher Helvetiq she retold Heidi as a zombie story set in the Alps. An earlier novel, Untethered, turns on a teenager who can leave her body and on the jealousy that ability feeds. The Curse That Binds Us opens her Devil of Roanoke trilogy, which twists a contemporary strand around a historical one drawn from the lost English settlement at Roanoke: Redd has spent her life moving with her mother to stay ahead of a box that keeps finding them, while a second strand follows Eleanor, pregnant, sailing from England to the Roanoke colony in 1587.
