Katie Mack

Mack is a theoretical cosmologist who holds a chair at the Perimeter Institute in Ontario and works on dark matter, black holes and the early universe. The End of Everything sets out five ways the universe might actually finish, from heat death to vacuum decay, and treats each as a physics problem rather than a mood. She writes with obvious enjoyment about outcomes that are total and irreversible. She is also unusually visible online, which has brought her a steady volume of abuse she has described publicly.
