Cane began publishing in 2008 and later developed the Rune Alexander sequence independently into an eleven-book arc, with shorter related work alongside it. Her other series include the Waifwater Chronicles, Silverlight, Edgefield Slayers, and Kait Silver. Obsidian Wings occupies an early turning point in her largest series, expanding its supernatural population while keeping the narrative focused on Rune’s responsibilities, loyalties, and growing understanding of her abilities.
