Laura Davila
Mexican Sorcery is a practical guide to brujería de rancho, the folk magic of rural Mexico, in which Indigenous practice and Catholic devotion have been braided together for centuries: limpias to clear a person, candle work, the saints who are asked for particular things, and the household objects the work is actually done with. Davila writes as a practitioner taught inside a family rather than as an observer, and the book is a manual for people who intend to do it. This is a devotional tradition rather than a medical one, and she sells readings and instruction alongside the writing.
