Its alternate Britain, shaped by the departure of Rome and the rise of a religious order, gives Weymouth room to explore grief, faith, mercy, authority, and sisterhood within an adventure narrative. A native of Ontario’s Niagara region, she later settled in western New York. Her other novels include The Light Between Worlds, A Treason of Thorns, A Rush of Wings, and The Voice Upstairs. Across those books, Weymouth repeatedly uses speculative settings to ask how inherited institutions shape private loyalties.
