A Consuming Fire follows Anya Astraea after her twin sister Ilva dies under the demands of a mountain god. Anya leaves their isolated village intending to confront that power and end a cycle in which girls are required to make sacrifices. Margaret K. McElderry Books brought the story out in 2022. Its alternate Britain, shaped by the departure of Rome and the rise of a religious order, gives Weymouth room to explore grief, faith, mercy, authority, and sisterhood within an adventure narrative. A native of Ontario’s Niagara region, she later settled in western New York. Her other novels include The Light Between Worlds, A Treason of Thorns, A Rush of Wings, and The Voice Upstairs. Across those books, Weymouth repeatedly uses speculative settings to ask how inherited institutions shape private loyalties.
