Laura Morelli
Laura Morelli moves between art history and historical fiction, drawing on artworks, museums and the people who cared for them. She earned a doctorate in art history from Yale and has taught students in Italy and the United States. The Night Portrait and The Stolen Lady connect Renaissance artworks with twentieth-century upheaval through dual timelines. Morelli's scholarship informs the settings, objects, and historical figures in these novels without turning them into academic studies. Her other books include The Gondola Maker and the Authentic Arts guidebook series, which examines regional craft traditions. She has also created public art-history lessons and travel writing for audiences outside universities.
