Laura Reese

Topping From Below opens with a woman identifying her sister's body and spends the rest of its length on what led there. Laura Reese published it with St. Martin's Press in 1995 and the reception split hard: some reviewers took it as a serious novel about obsession and control, others found the explicit material indefensible at that length. Nora Tibbs, a newspaper columnist, works backwards through her sister Franny's diaries into a relationship with a music professor those diaries record in detail. Panic Snap followed in 1996 and The Book of Hunger later. Reese took an English degree at Davis and has stayed out of public view; the novels are what there is.
