Melodie Campbell writes Canadian comic crime fiction, short stories, and fantasy with a strong sense of pace. Rowena Through the Wall begins the Land's End series with Rowena, a contemporary woman who discovers that a wall in her home opens into an alternate world. The portal draws her into a society shaped by unfamiliar political rules, historical echoes, and romantic complications. Imajin Books first published the novel in 2011, and later volumes continued Rowena's movement between worlds. Campbell's broader work includes the Goddaughter comic caper series and historical mysteries, demonstrating her preference for quick reversals, witty narration, and characters who improvise under pressure. She has served as executive director of Crime Writers of Canada and has published numerous short stories alongside her novels. Although the Land's End books use fantasy rather than a modern crime setting, they share her comic timing and interest in resourceful women navigating systems whose rules are both dangerous and absurd.
