Lucy Courtenay

Lucy Courtenay is a British children's writer whose stories combine brisk adventure with comic fantasy. In Space Penguins Meteor Madness!, the crew of the spaceship Tunafish escapes an attack by a fleet of starships, then notices strange events that suggest a shapeshifter is aboard. Penguin's edition information identifies Meteor Madness! as a Space Penguins adventure published in 2013 by Fiction Studio, with illustrations by James Davies. Courtenay has written for children since 1999 and has worked across picture books, chapter books, and longer fiction. The series turns familiar space-opera roles into jokes without losing the momentum of an escape and an onboard mystery. Davies's illustrations support the fast pace and visual humor. The result fits Courtenay's wider interest in imaginative premises that give newly independent readers a clear plot, a memorable team, and generous room for silliness.
