M. J. Haag is the name Melissa Haag uses for her dark fairy tale retellings, while her shifter series, Judgement of the Six among them, carry the Melissa Haag name. Depravity opened the Beastly Tales in 2015 with a dark reworking of Beauty and the Beast. Four years later came the Tales of Cinder, which braids Cinderella together with Snow White: Disowned, the prequel, follows Margaret, whose daughters carry the story afterwards, and Disdain has Eloise risking her own safety to keep two lives out of danger. Haag has said she began writing simply because she had run out of books to read.
