Taming the Wolf, first published in 2007, opens the Wolf Pack books: Samara Layton, whose community outreach organisation is close to collapse, asks the wealthy attorney Marcus Wolf for the money to save it. The Swede arrived a decade later as the second Denver Rebels title, pairing Scarlett Warner, singer and drummer in an indie band, with Viggo Sandström, a Swedish forward known on the ice as the Sandstorm. Maureen Smith writes steamy contemporary romance and romantic suspense, and her leads are usually Black women. Her list now runs past thirty novels and five novellas. She read English with a creative writing minor at Maryland's College Park campus, freelanced for the Baltimore Afro-American and the Prince George's Journal, and taught third grade for a while in Washington DC. Her 2002 debut, Ghosts of Fire, drew a Romantic Times Reviewers' Choice nomination; Secret Agent Seduction took an Emma Award in 2010. She lives in Mexico.
