Mrs Katherine Dunlap Cather
The honorific was how she published. Katherine Dunlap Cather wrote for teachers in the years when storytelling was being argued into the American school curriculum as a method rather than a treat. Educating by Story-Telling, issued by the World Book Company in 1918, sets out what to tell children at each age and why, with the stories themselves supplied and notes on how to deliver them. Girlhood Stories of Famous Women, from 1924, does the narrower job of putting women into the biographical reading that boys had been given for a century, taking each subject at the age its readers were. She is not related to Willa Cather, whose name the catalogues sometimes confuse with hers.
