Richard A. Proctor

Richard Anthony Proctor (1837–1888) was an English astronomer and one of the most prolific science popularizers of the Victorian age. Educated at St. John's College, Cambridge, he wrote widely on the planets, the stars, and the history of astronomy, and produced an early detailed map of Mars. He founded the popular science weekly Knowledge in 1881 and spent his later years lecturing across Britain, the United States, and Australia.
