Robert Falcon Scott

Robert Falcon Scott (1868-1912) was a Royal Navy officer who led two British expeditions to Antarctica, Discovery and Terra Nova. He reached the South Pole in January 1912, a month behind Amundsen, and died with his companions on the return march. His journals were recovered months later.
