Ryder Carroll
1980
Was diagnosed with attention deficit disorder as a child and built a paper system to function, which he later published as the Bullet Journal method.
The design is deliberately analogue: rapid logging in short bursts, an index, monthly and daily spreads, and migration, where anything not carried forward by hand at the end of a month has effectively been judged not worth the effort.
Carroll worked as a digital product designer, so the choice of paper is a considered one rather than nostalgia. The elaborate decorated spreads circulating online are other people's, and he has said repeatedly that they are not the system.
