Sam Heughan
1980
Sam Heughan combines acting with travel writing in Clanlands, whose named authors are Heughan and his Outlander colleague Graham McTavish. Hachette also identifies journalist Charlotte Reather as a co-writer. The book follows the actors’ road trip through Scotland, using encounters, landscapes and clan history to explore the country from contrasting viewpoints. Hodder & Stoughton published Clanlands in 2020, and Outlander novelist Diana Gabaldon supplied the foreword. Heughan is a Scottish actor and producer best known for playing Jamie Fraser in the television adaptation of Gabaldon’s series. He and McTavish also developed their travels for the programme Men in Kilts. Their conversation and friendly rivalry are central to the account.
