Sarah Lyons Fleming builds character-driven survival fiction across several connected series. World Departed opens the Cascadia sequence on the American West Coast, following Rose Winter, Tom Jensen, and Craig Matthews as ordinary conflicts persist after a society-wide collapse. The novel shares a universe with Fleming's Until the End of the World and City books, but begins a distinct Oregon-centered storyline. Her official bibliography continues it through World Between, World Without, and World Undone, with another volume planned. Born and raised in Brooklyn and later based in Oregon, Fleming brings interests in foraging, preparedness, art, and apocalyptic storytelling to fiction that gives relationships as much weight as external danger.
