Thomas Hughes

Thomas Hughes (1822-1896) was an English lawyer, social reformer, and Member of Parliament. A Christian Socialist and Rugby old boy, he wrote fiction, biography, and reform tracts, but he is remembered almost entirely for this single novel, drawn straight from his schooldays.
