Tony Robbins
MONEY Master the Game: 7 Simple Steps came out in 2014 and rests on interviews Tony Robbins ran with investors including Ray Dalio, Carl Icahn, Jack Bogle and Warren Buffett. The advice itself is conventional and mostly sound: set aside a fixed share of income before anything else, keep fees down, favour low-cost index funds, settle an asset allocation and stay with it. Robbins holds no licence or qualification in finance; he is a life and business coach. Born Anthony J. Mahavorić in North Hollywood on 29 February 1960, he left home at seventeen, worked for the speaker Jim Rohn, picked up neuro-linguistic programming and built a seminar business, publishing Unlimited Power in 1986 and Awaken the Giant Within in 1991. Financial advisers criticised the disclosure in the money book, which recommends Stronghold Financial, the firm of Ajay Gupta, Robbins's own wealth manager, and promotes a Portfolio Checkup tool Gupta made with Elliot Weissbluth of HighTower Advisors. Robbins had hinted he might become a partner in Stronghold, then said he would not and that his involvement was advisory. He gave the profits, and a personal sum on top, to Feeding America.
