Tracy Deebs
Tracy Deebs writes fantasy for young readers, drawing on years spent teaching junior high, high school, and college students. Tempest Unleashed is the second volume in her Tempest trilogy and continues the story of Tempest Maguire after she chooses life beneath the sea. Tempest struggles with duties to the mermaid community, her bond with the selkie prince Kona, memories of Mark on land, and the threat posed by Tiamat. A crisis involving her younger brother brings those divided worlds together and forces her developing powers into action. Walker brought out the 2012 volume, while contemporary reviews identify it clearly as the sequel to Tempest Rising. Deebs later completed the arc with Tempest Revealed, giving the middle book a specific role in an ongoing conflict rather than a stand-alone reset. Her storytelling combines family concerns, ocean mythology, and high-stakes adventure, with Tempest's decisions carrying consequences in both human and undersea communities. The result is a series installment driven by divided loyalties as much as supernatural danger.
