Umme Pritam is a Bangladeshi writer from Dhaka whose debut novel places friendship, grief, family pressure, and romantic uncertainty within a contemporary young-person narrative. Pritam began the manuscript in October 2021 and completed it within about five months, developing Eiliyah partly from qualities she associated with her mother.
