W. G. Sebaid

W. G. Sebaid is a misspelling of W. G. Sebald, the German writer and scholar who lived from 1944 to 2001. Sebald taught literature in Norwich and became the founding director of the British Centre for Literary Translation in 1989. His prose combines fiction, essay, travel, memory, and documentary images in forms that resist simple genre labels. Austerlitz, published in German and English in 2001, follows Jacques Austerlitz as he reconstructs a childhood displaced across Europe. Sebald's other major prose works include Vertigo, The Emigrants, and The Rings of Saturn. The University of East Anglia preserves an audiovisual archive connected to his academic and literary career.
