Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) was born in Salzburg and toured the courts of Europe as a child performer under his father Leopold, a violinist and composer in the archbishop's service. He broke with Salzburg employment in 1781 and spent his final decade in Vienna working as a freelance composer, teacher and keyboard player. He left more than six hundred works, among them Idomeneo, The Marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni and the unfinished Requiem, and died at thirty-five.
