About this book
A-B-C of Electricity is a book by William H. Meadowcroft. A letter signed Thos. A. Edison says the writer has read the MS. of the A-B-C of Electricity and finds that the statements made therein are correct. The contents list names, among others, Definitions, Magnetism, The Telegraph and Wireless Telegraphy.
The text says that in electricity the unit of pressure, or force, is called a volt. The text says water is carried into a house by means of hollow pipes, which are usually made of iron, and that electricity is carried into houses by means of wires. The text says the armature in a practical dynamo-machine consists of a large spool of thin sheets of iron with a steel shaft run through the center. The text describes the alkaline storage battery, a type of storage battery that contains neither lead nor acid and is one of the many inventions of Thomas A. Edison.
