A Chaplain’s Campaign With Gen. Butler is the Civil War pamphlet in which Henry Norman Hudson (1814-1886), the Episcopal clergyman and noted Shakespeare editor, recounted his service and his quarrel with General Benjamin Butler in the Army of the James. Hudson was briefly imprisoned after falling foul of the general, and his account is an unsparing attack on Butler’s conduct during the 1864 Virginia operations. The pamphlet feeds one of the war’s liveliest reputation feuds. Free PDF download available on BDeBooks.
